Developer of Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) is a gentle and effective approach to healing from trauma and stress that focuses on the wisdom of your body. In our sessions, we'll pay close attention to the physical sensations and experiences you're having, because these hold important clues about your body's natural healing process.
When a person experiences trauma, the body’s survival responses, such as fight, flight, or freeze, can become stuck in a state of activation. Even long after a difficult experience has passed, the nervous system may continue to respond as though danger is still present. This can lead to symptoms such as anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm, numbness, or a persistent sense of being “on edge.”
We'll work together to gently explore these sensations. In sessions, you may notice subtle experiences such as breathing patterns, muscle tension, or shifts in posture. While sharing your story may be part of your healing process, SE doesn't require you to retell your traumatic experiences in detail.
Throughout our sessions, I'll guide you through simple exercises and techniques to help regulate your nervous system, reduce stress, and restore a sense of safety and balance in your body. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, honoring your unique needs and experiences.
By tuning into your nervous system’s natural wisdom, we can start to gently release old patterns and create new ways of feeling safe, calm, and connected. The grip of past trauma gradually releases and you reclaim a greater sense of vitality, well-being, and empowerment in your life.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?”
